A 62-year-old Smithville woman was injured in a two-car collision on Highway 56 South Monday. According to Trooper Brandon Jackson of the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Wanda Wallace was transported to DeKalb Community Hospital by EMS with non-life threatening injuries after the crash. Wallace was reportedly traveling south in her Chevy Malibu when the northbound F-150 of 37-year-old Pedro Gonzales left the highway on the right side and overcorrected, crossing into Wallace’s path. The Malibu struck the truck on the rear on the passenger side and came to a stop in the southbound lane facing west. The truck left the highway and came to rest in a field on the west side of the road. Gonzales was apparently uninjured. The trooper said charges against Gonzales are pending.
