Alderman Danny Washer, Rescue Squad Captain Dustin Johnson, Alderman Tim Stribling, Rescue Squad Treasurer Joe Johnson, Smithville Mayor Jimmy Poss and members of the Smithville-DeKalb County Rescue Squad cut the ribbon on the new 2,160 square-foot building near Greenbrook Park. Squad members said that while the facility is functional, some work is yet to be done before the building is complete. The building will allow members to house all of the squad’s vehicles in a central location, rather than scattered around the county as they have been in the past. Then squad will still need to raise an additional $5,000-6,000 to complete the wiring, concrete work and gutters.
