The east end of the old Sligo Bridge was demolished last Tuesday. After two years of construction the 57-year-old structure has been replaced by a new span across Center Hill Lake. The new, almost $40 million bridge is now open for traffic, and while the remainder of the old bridge still stands it is set to be demolished sometime this week. It is to be demolished in sections, and the scrap metal will be retrieved from the water.
