Ryan Davis Taylor, 24, of Smithville is charged with one count of aggravated burglary, five counts of burglary, one count of theft of property under $1,000, three counts of theft of property over $1,000, two counts of theft over $10,000, and two counts of vandalism.
Taylor most recent charges were for two counts of burglary and theft after he allegedly broke into the same shed twice on Hannah’s Branch Road in Liberty without the consent of the owner with the intent of depriving the owner of their property.
According to DeKalb County Sheriff Patrick Ray on Tuesday, Oct. 3, Taylor entered a shed and stole a chained generator by cutting the chain, two log chains, grease gun, a tamping bar, an adjustable wrench, and rubber handled pliers all valued at $690.
He then went back to the same shed on Thursday, Oct. 5 and broke in again and stole a .22 rifle, .22 pistol, Milwaukee band saw, threading set, Makita angle grinder, Makita drills, Makita saw, Lasermark Sawzall, three chainsaws, floor jack, extension cord, and grease fittings all valued at $2,786.
Armed with the existing information, a search warrant was then issued against Taylor’s home on Friday, Oct. 13, wherein Sheriff Ray, detectives, and deputies executed the warrant on Saturday, Oct. 14 and recovered more stolen property from other burglaries.
The other cases against Taylor are as follows:
July 14 - Taylor entered a barn on Game Ridge Road, Smithville causing damage to it taking several hunting bows, hunting clothes, a computer, bullets, reloading equipment, rod and reels, and lights, valued at $10,000
July 18 - Taylor assisted with the forcible entry into a mini-storage building located on Nashville Highway. Entry was made by removing the lock to the storage container. He then assisted in the theft of several musical instruments, cameras, cds, video games, and jewelry, valued at $34,276.70.
September 30 - Taylor entered a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent and stole a custom-built AR-15 rifle, Craftsman tool set, drill, floor jack, Garmin GPS, and boots and glasses all valued at $2,120
October 6 - Taylor entered a residence on Allen Ferry Road in Dekalb County with the intent to deprive the owner of their property and stole various jewelry, TV, coffee pot, keys, remotes, laptop, and a tablet all valued at $1,300
The vandalism charges stemmed from damage that occurred during the Liberty and Game Ridge shed break-ins.
His total bond amounts to $160,500 and his court date is Nov. 2.
