The sheriff's department has arrested three Dowelltown men and charged them with kidnapping a man and woman and beating them with an axe handle Friday.
Sheriff Patrick Ray said 42-year-old Jimmy Tolbert (J.J.) Hendrixson, Jr., 36-year-old Casey Joseph Jacobs, and 48-year-old Comas Brian Higgins all face two counts of especially aggravated kidnapping. The three allegedly met the victims at a New Bildad Road bridge the night of July 18 and attacked them with an axe handle, tied them up and taped their mouths.
Ray said the male escaped, ran to a nearby home and called for help. The three suspects reportedly left the scene and drove the female to their Old Snow Hill Road residence.
The sheriff, along with deputies and detectives, investigated the incident and located the woman at the residence of her alleged abductors.
The male victim was transported by DeKalb EMS to the DeKalb Community Hospital, where he was treated and released. Neither victim was seriously injured.
Ray said the case remains under investigation, and no motive was given. Bond for all three men was set at $150,000, and they will appear in court on July 31.
Meanwhile, 53-year-old David Michael Petty was charged with aggravated burglary and theft of property over $1,000 on July 8. Petty allegedly broke into a Man Hill Road home and stole jewelry, which he later pawned at a local jewelry store and at a Warren County pawn shop.
The case was investigated by a criminal detective of the sheriff's department. Petty’s bond was set at $17,000, and he will appear in court August 21.
Toni Michelle Lloyd-Turner, 25, was charged with failure to appear and criminal impersonation on July 9.
Sheriff Ray said a deputy serving an arrest warrant on Turner at a residence on Old Bildad Road spoke with Turner, who reportedly told him several times that her name was "Jessica." The officer recognized her from the picture on the warrant, however, and placed her under arrest. The sheriff said Turner later admitted to being herself.
Her bonds total $7,000, and she will appear in court on July 17.
Christopher Brian Pack, 43, of Morrison was charged with driving on a revoked license and cited for no tail light on July 16.
Ray said a deputy stopped a 1994 Ford Escort, driven by Pack, on Highway 70 for having a tail light out. A computer check reportedly revealed Pack's driver’s license to be revoked for DUI.
His bond was set at $1,500, and he will appear in court on July 24.
David Ray Johnson, 51, was charged on July 17 with theft of property under $500 on July 11.
The sheriff said Johnson allegedly stole a gold ring bearing the victim's engraved initials and sold it to a local jewelry store. The case was investigated by a criminal detective of the sheriff's department.
His bond was set at $1,500 and he will appear in court on July 24.
Thomas Bruce Greene, 60, of Liberty was charged with a second offense of driving under the influence and a second offense of driving on a suspended license and cited for failing to maintain his lane of travel on July 17.
Ray said a deputy stopped a 1987 Chevy pickup truck for failing to maintain its lane of travel and found Greene to be the driver. When he spoke with Greene, the officer allegedly detected a strong odor of alcohol on his person and found his speech was slurred, and that he was very unsteady on his feet. Greene reportedly submitted to, but performed poorly on, field sobriety tasks, and submitted to a blood test. His license was apparently suspended for a DUI in Georgia.
His bond was set at $6,000 and he will appear in court on July 24.
Dale Allen Golden, 60, was charged with violation of an order of protection on July 19.
Ray said that Golden violated an order of protection taken out against him by his wife. The arresting officer reportedly saw Golden standing in the yard of a residence where his wife was present. Golden allegedly told the officer that he was aware he was violating the order of protection.
His bond was set at $2,500 and he will appear in court on July 31.
