A 42-year-old Smithville woman has been charged with criminal simulation after she allegedly attempted to pass counterfeit bills off as legal tender at the Dollar General Store in Smithville.
Smithville police said Sharon C. Malone was charged on May 13 after she used phony bills to make a purchase, and was found with more counterfeit money on her person when she returned later in the day and attempted to complete another transaction at the same store.
Her bond was set at $1,500.
Meanwhile, Marty Brent Tallent, 49, was arrested for domestic assault and cited for vandalism on May 28.
Police said Tallent assaulted a family member with a guitar several times, and continued his violent behavior by hitting his guitar on the hood of another person's vehicle several times. Tallent was later taken into custody without incident.
His bond was set at $3,000, and he will appear in court on June 30.
Jeffery Banks, 44, was arrested for violation of bond conditions related to a domestic assault charge on May 13.
According to the warrant, Banks sat in the driveway of the house next door to his residence only 75 feet from where his victims were getting into a vehicle causing them to be afraid.
His bond was set at $5,000, and he will appear in court on June 9.
Jessica Bain, 27, was arrested for a domestic assault on May 18, and during a search of her purse incident to arrest, police allegedly found two Alprazolam pills, a Schedule IV drug, in a plastic cigarette box wrapper. Bain was then charged with simple possession or casual exchange as well.
She was charged with assault for allegedly pushing the victim during an argument, causing the victim to hit her wrist, resulting in an injury. She will appear in court on June 16.
Steven Bly, 32, was arrested for violation of bond conditions on May 17.
Police dispatched to check out reports of a domestic assault reportedly arrived and heard arguing from inside the home. After making entry, police allegedly found Bly in a back room with the victim.
An investigation reportedly revealed that Bly had been arrested for domestic assault on April 18, and had been ordered not to have contact with the victim.
His bond was set at $10,000.
Angelea Nicole Vallem, 40, was cited for theft under $500 on May 25.
Police said video surveillance showed Vallem taking cash from a money bag that was laying on the victim’s desk. Her court date is set for June 23.
35 year old Meghann Shipman was arrested on May 27 for disorderly conduct.
Officers were called to a residence on Smith Road, where they spoke with Shipman. While trying to explain how to resolve her issue, Shipman reportedly became belligerent toward the officers and began to yell and use profanity.
She was asked to leave the residence, but when she walked outside Shipman allegedly continued yelling and cussing, which caused a public disruption. Shipman had been advised previously to be courteous and stop yelling, but she failed to do so.
Her bond was set at $2,000, and she will appear in court on June 9.
Matthew Templeton Broadrick, 30, was arrested on May 30 and charged with a third offense of driving under the influence and a third offense of driving on a revoked license. He was also cited for simple possession.
According to city police, Broadrick was traveling west on Broad Street when he allegedly passed out at the wheel of his vehicle, left the roadway, and crashed into the front doors of O'Reilly Auto Parts. Broadrick allegedly left the scene, but was stopped by police approximately two miles away.
Officers reportedly determined that Broadrick had consumed several beers and taken migraine medication. During a probation search of his vehicle officers allegedly found a small baggie containing a green, leafy substance believed to be marijuana. A computer check revealed that his license was revoked in 2007 and 2015.
His bond was set at $7,500, and he will appear in court on July 14.
Chad Knowles, 45, was arrested on May 20 for a second offense of driving on a revoked license. Police stopped a vehicle bearing the wrong plates. After speaking with Knowles, the driver, and making a computer check through central dispatch it was discovered that Knowles didn't have a driver's license. His bond was set at $5,000, and he will appear in court on June 16.
Del Angel Hernandez Eliazar, 44, was arrested for driving under the influence and cited for violation of the implied consent law on May 28.
Eliazar was found to be the driver of a vehicle which had been involved in a motor vehicle accident. He allegedly had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath and person, and his speech was slurred. He was reportedly unsteady on his feet, and he performed poorly on sobriety tasks.
His bond was set at $1,500, and he will appear in court on June 23.
Joshua L Baxter, 26, was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of simple possession on May 25.
Police dispatched to investigate a reported vehicle break-in allegedly found Baxter still inside the car. A search of Baxter's person allegedly revealed a purple tube containing white powder residue, six pills for which he had no prescription, and a small amount of a green, leafy substance believed to be marijuana. His court date was set for June 16.
