A Day at the Park was held Saturday, focusing on themes of child abuse prevention and foster family recruitment.
The free event at Green Brook Park went until noon with several enjoying the comfortable spring morning.
“We do this in observance of child abuse prevention,” said Lisa Cripps of the DeKalb Prevention Coalition which put on the event along with the Community Advisory Board. There were informational booths, games as well as hot dogs, drinks and popcorn for those in attendance.
The event encouraged everyone to help in making DeKalb County a better place for children and families by making sure parents have the knowledge and resources to better care for their children. With that information and help, child abuse and neglect can be averted, making for better lives for all DeKalb County residents, young and old.
The DeKalb Prevention Coalition and DeKalb Community Advisory Board meet together the last Tuesday of each month. For information on meeting location and times or activities during the month of April and throughout the year, contact Lisa Cripps DPC Coordinator 615-684-6378 or check the DPC Facebook page at www.facebook.com/dekalbpreventioncoalition.
